Enhancing Resilience in Power Transmission in Greece
Focus Area
Energy
Location
Greece
Objective
Validate HOMAGE tools in the energy sector, focusing on robustness, interoperability, and cross-border grid stability under compound threats, from TRL 5 in controlled simulations to TRL 6 under realistic operational conditions.

Stakeholders

The Hellenic TSO (IPTO) participates as Pilot Operator, providing access to real operational data, defining crisis scenarios, and validating the HOMAGE AI-based decision support tools.

Scenarios

Scenario 1: Compounding hazard (extreme weather and increased cognitive load for operators). A severe storm and wildfire event leads to a power outage in part of the transmission network. With HOMAGE, operators can better detect and prioritise risks using real-time data (satellite, sensors, weather models), reduce cognitive load through suggested operational responses, and assess system recovery paths and cross-border impacts.

Scenario 2: Post-crisis evaluation and training. Following a simulated crisis, IPTO conducts a post-event analysis to evaluate the measures taken, and trains personnel through scenario-based events.

Expected benefits

Higher forecasting accuracy, greater early-warning lead time and early-detection rate, better identification of root causes in post-incident analyses, improved decision quality and timeliness after training, and lessons integrated into IPTO’s operational procedures and policy recommendations.
